Level 1: Fundamentals

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior experience to take a class?
No. Our Level 1: Fundamentals course is designed specifically for first-time gun owners and beginners. No experience required — just a willingness to learn safely.
Do I need to bring my own firearm?
You are welcome to bring your own firearm if you have one. A firearm is primarily needed for Level 2, Level 3, and Range Practice. For Level 1, you can still learn proper stance and handling with your own firearm if you have one. If you don’t have a firearm, rentals are available at the range. Eye and ear protection is required and also available for rent at the range if needed.
For the MRA Church Security and Workplace Violence Prevention courses, firearm requirements will be communicated upon enrollment. Contact us for more details.
Where are classes held?
Classes are held at a range in the Atlanta, Georgia area for USCCA firearms training. For MRA Church Security and Workplace Violence Prevention courses, classes may be held at your location or a designated training facility. After booking, we will reach out to confirm details.
How long is each class?
Class duration varies by level. Level 1: Fundamentals is approximately 2.5 hours. Level 2: Concealed Carry in Public is approximately 4 hours and includes both classroom and range time. Level 3: Home Defense is approximately 2.5 hours and includes both classroom and range time. Range Practice sessions are approximately 1 hour of focused live fire coaching.
MRA Church Security and Workplace Violence Prevention course durations will be communicated upon enrollment as these programs are currently in development.
Is this training USCCA certified?
Yes. All USCCA courses follow the USCCA curriculum and are taught by a USCCA-certified instructor. Completion certificates are available upon request.
The MRA Church Security and Workplace Violence Prevention courses are developed and taught independently by Mountain River Associates and are not USCCA-affiliated programs.
Can I take the courses out of order?
We recommend starting with Level 1 if you’re new to firearms. However, experienced shooters may be able to start at Level 2 or 3 — contact us to discuss your background before booking.
Do you offer training for churches and organizations?
Yes — MRA is developing dedicated Church Security and Workplace Violence Prevention courses for teams and organizations. These courses are coming soon. Contact us to join the waitlist and be notified when they launch.
